About Sara Catena

Growing up in a small coastal town on New Zealand's North Island, all Sara Catena wanted to do was paint & draw. It was there, as a young child, she developed her love and appreciation of light and nature's clear colours.

Her artistic instincts developed with a combination of practical study in Art and Design and a mixture of creative occupations including Hand-painted clothing and Home wares, print design for textile, children's wear and visual merchandising.

Sara's unique and fresh works have a positive energy that reflect her belief that "We are so heavily influenced by our visual surrounds; therefore the art we put on our walls should be something that adds value to our busy and demanding lives".

Sara's work shows influences of her study into the early European fauvist movement (so called for the artists' wild use of colour). Her artwork is also influenced by her extensive travels throughout Europe.

Sara's much sought after paintings are proudly displayed in many corporate environments, businesses and residences, both locally and internationally.

Sara works from her studio on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Australia.
